In 1989, after a successful career as a journalist, Carol Greenslade founded G-2 Communications to administrate, track and provide reports on Chrysler Corporation's national media test fleet. Initiated by a Chrysler executive, the fleet program was designed to improve the efficiency of the fleet as a public relations tool - to reach a wider audience, monitor vehicle usage and media coverage.
One year later, the success of the fleet program, originally a part-time, offsite project for a "few months", required Greenslade to move her office into Chrysler's World Headquarters in Highland Park, Mich.
During its third year of existence, G-2 expanded to include PR program logistics and implementation in its operations, moved its offices to Southfield, Mich. and began similar fleet management work with Ford Motor Company and Jaguar Cars, Inc.
G-2 entered 1996 with a staff of eight, substantial new business, a broadened capability of a full-service public relations agency, with an automotive focus and a new home in Bloomfield Hills. Rex Greenslade (Carol's spouse), joined the company as Managing Director, after careers in engineering with General Motors, journalism, auto racing and public relations for Ford in Europe and the U.S.
By 1998, G-2 had established a strong foothold in the automotive and Motorsport public relations community. With a staff of 20, the company provided public relations counsel, Motorsport PR management, program and event logistics - and continued to manage the DaimlerChrysler national media fleet.
General Motors became G-2's largest client in March 2000 when it awarded the PR company its motorsport and heritage communications activities. In this account, G-2 is responsible for managing the strategic planning and implementation of GM's motorsport communications programs and actions while coordinating key messages globally to target audiences and leveraging GM's rich heritage through motorsport and motorsport-related events.
Early in 2003, G-2 moved into new loft headquarters in historic Birmingham, Mich. G-2's current client roster includes global automotive manufacturers and suppliers, civic governing agencies and high-tech companies.
